Major Guard Protection Plan
Major Guard, is the most comprehensive extended warranty you will find anywhere. Major Guard's bumper to bumper exclusionary coverage will cover virtually every component of your GM car or truck when there is a mechanical failure after the original warranty –even if it simply wears out. Major Guard also includes Alternate Transportation and Roadside Assistance.
Your GMPP covers the costs of both parts and labor. You can visit any of the 7,000+ GM dealerships in the United States and Canada for repairs.
Parts and Labor Costs
GMPP Major Guard covers nearly every facet of your vehicle. This includes over 5,000 serviceable mechanical, electronic and electrical component on your vehicle. Even if the part simply wears out, it is covered under GMPP. Your coverage for the costs of parts and labor includes the following:
- Engine
- Fuel system
- Engine cooling system
- Heating and air conditioning systems
- Braking system components
- Suspension (Front / Rear)
- Steering system
- High-tech components
- Seals and gaskets
- Front / Rear-wheel-drive assemblies
- Transmission / Transaxle
- Electrical, computer and audio systems
- Safety assemblies
Roadside Assistance
Your GMPP Major Guard plan will provide you with roadside assistance anywhere in the United States and Canada 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You only need to call our toll-free number for:
- Towing
- Out-of-gas fuel delivery
- Battery jump
- Flat tire change
- Locksmith / Key service
Alternate Transportation
Your GMPP will provide alternate transportation for covered repairs. Major Guard will pay the cost for public transportation or a rental car (limits apply) when:
The amount of labor time guide hours to repair your vehicle takes two or more hours, or your vehicle is not able to be driven and requires an overnight stay.
Individualized to Fit Your Needs
When you contact us about a quote, we will provide you with different plan options based on the number of miles you drive each year. As long as you are still covered by the original warranty, Major Guard can be purchased at any time. However, the sooner you buy, the better the value of the Major Guard plan.

Covered Parts
